Typical Tuesday

After K7 returns from Seminary class, we have breakfast, school, then feed the animals. K8 works as an unpaid intern for two hours at the Vet clinic.

After I picked him up from clinic this week, we stopped by Subway for lunch before running errands.

Late in the afternoon, we got K7's deer hunting tag (K8 and I got ours weeks ago), and then the boys sighted in their hunting weapons. You notice the cows in the background? We weren't shooting at them, but at a cardboard deer target in front of the big dirt pile.

Both boys proved they will have no problem killing a deer with their first shot - K7 using his rifle and K8 using his shotgun with slugs.

We are keeping the momma cows and sheep with their young penned in paddocks #1 and #2, and feeding hay every day while letting the grass grow in paddocks #3, 4 and 5. You can see the difference in color and height. All the male animals are penned up in #6. Hoping to get the hillside fenced any day now, and there is enough grass up there to feed our animals through February.

K8 fell asleep in the laundry room late at night.

  2. We read this week about how the pilgrims and indians had deer at their first Thanksgiving feast! And fish! Because the Wamponoag Indians taught them how to fish and hunt in the Northeast. Gonna catch deer for Thanksgiving?
K8 is known for sleeping on odd pieces of furniture. Like on top of the dining table at 5yrs. Pretty funny sight just the same!

  3. I slept one night in the dirty clothes pile in my closet, i was waiting to scare people but fell asleep. Maybe K8 was doing laundry and felt a sleepy.... he was just resting his eyes!

  4. I'm gonna guess that K8's bedroom was a pigsty if the washer and dryer looked comfy.
