Hot on the trail of J K Rowling!

I should have known - the trail leads upward...

You have to go slow and carefully study everything for clues...

Sometimes the trail leads you through alleys...

...and sometimes through complicated and mysterious doorways...

My favorite steps in Edinburgh - they actually go DOWN!

Even sleuths need a lunch break in the garden park.

Back on the trail again, and of course it leads UP!

Ah haaa! Our first real clue! Riddle's Close! We must be getting Close...

Not Tom Riddle, but still, a pretty rare find - a man with a boogey board, and no where near a beach with surfing waves.

There is beauty to be found all along the trail.

Let's ask this friendly fellow for help.

He suggested that since she is a famous author, maybe she is at the Writer's Museum, but alas, no such luck...

So we decided to go back to the Elephant Restaurant, where she worked on her first Harry Potter novel, and sure enough, there was the clue staring us in the face - look at the door on the right in the background...could it be that easy?

Oh my gosh! She has been here!

...and very recently - the seat is still warm!

More shots from Scotland

Our Coach driver, Allan. Retired Army. History degree. Greatly loves his native Scotland and Queen Elizabeth II. Can't imagine a better tour guide - very knowledgeable, fun, and entertaining. He also had created his own CD mix of Scottish music to play while not talking.

What great fortune! Our B&B was near the best part of town - the part with all the old book shops! Heaven...

I was actually thankful for the few times it rained, because then I could head into a book shop and browse wonderful old books.

KT and the Castle.

Edinburgh is a great city to get some exercise. Lots of stone steps - all going up.

I never got tried of seeing this pile of rocks.

A shot from top of the National History museum. A very good museum.

The old city library is just up the street from The Elephant restaurant. Look at the motto above the door - Let There Be Light.

My absolute favorite book shop.

Yes, another shot of The Castle...I have plenty more.

Halfway up toward the Castle looking back south into Grassmarket. Notice the other set of steps directly across from us? Which direction do they go? UP!

Hungry? Time for another food tour!

KT and I decided that this was our favorite breakfast choice the last few days at the Bed and Breakfast in Edinburgh - lite and tasty. It gave us enough energy to walk up and down Edinburgh and still have room to enjoy a lunch later in the day. The gigantic traditional full Scottish breakfast was just too much food - you needed to go lay down for a rest after eating and skip lunch.

Our after lunch sweet at "Liz MacGregor's" cafe in the village of Aberfoyle, in the Trossachs.

Excellent little Japanese place in Edinburgh. Tuna, my favorite...

...they also had the best Tempura veggies and chicken skewers.

We found a fabulous Greek place called "My Big Fat Greek Restaurant". Started with calamari - the one on the right is spicey chilli.

The best lamb kebobs in the world! This is not my plate. I wolfed mine down, but the American couple at the next table liked the looks of my dish so much that they ordered the same. They split one plate. The wife asked if I wanted to take a picture since I was bemoaning the fact I missed my photo.

Eating healthy from Marks & Spencer store.

Eaten in the sunny park below Edinburgh Castle.

See how healthy...

...and with British chicken, not French.

What better to follow a healthy lunch with than a fresh baked healthy chocolate cookie...

...why, a whole packet of healthy cookies! Don't worry, we spread them out throughout the whole day.

Another healthy meal at The Elephant.

Aunt M had this wonderful supper ready for us upon our return from Edinburgh. Arrived home about 7:30 P.M.

This morning's breakfast at Andrew's Copper Kettle - black pudding and tomatoes with hot chocolate.

The CK is very popular and stays busy for hours.

The Elephant House.

The back room where J K Rowling wrote her first Harry Potter novel.
