Off to Scotland

When they say "under ground" train, they mean way underground. This was our 2nd set of escalators going down, and K3 is nearing the bottom. We are on our way to the big train station in the big city. It was interesting traveling on a crowded rush hour train with our big backpacks.

Switching from the local metropolitan rail line to the main train line that will carry us to Scotland.

Arrived in Edinburgh to sunny blue skies. Our first ride in a big black taxi.

The view from our room.

Our room.

The shared bathroom.

On our way to the Castle, the blue skies changed to clouds and strong winds.

Made a stop in this great little bookshop. The gentleman in blue jacket bumped a 4 foot tall stack of books and they fell over. K3 jumped in to help.

Edinburgh Castle. By this time the wind was approaching gale force strength. K3 is not pregnant - her jacket was filled with wind from the North Sea. The way her hair was whipped about by the wind, I'm surprised I got a clear shot of her face. As we climbed the stairs behind her up to the castle, the wind was so strong it was blowing us backward! You can barely see the British flag flying above the Castle, but it was flapping.

The rain started to fall as well and then the storm blew us into a neat little Nepalese/Indian restaurant. K3 said it was the best tikka masala she had ever eaten. We were so hungry I forgot to get a before photo, so here's the after picture.

  1. You both look so much like the people there, if it were not for your accents you could be Scottish.
I bet the pictures are better in person. You found a nice place to stay, except for the heavy door. Sorry for your finger.
