Building a new home

This was the rustic cabin we started with in the summer of 2008. It had several deficencies...

Just click on any photo to enlarge it.

February 2010 - Hey! Where did the cabin go?

Here it is...Mom found it in the burn pile!

April 2010 - The new footings go in along with radiant tubes to be embedded in the new concrete floor. Big basement...

May 2010 - K7 checks out the new basement. No, that is not the outhouse you see on the left side of the basement, its the well house.

early June 2010 - Construction begins with the floor joists going in. Our builder is Alan Smithey of Little Cedar Log Homes.

June 2010 - followed immediately by walls being framed!

Back view of walk-out basement and K2 standing in front of house.

Late June 2010 - the rafters being built. Hopefully, the metal roof goes on top right after the 4th of July holiday!

The dream begins to come true!

Lets go back two years to when this family adventure began...

In July 2008, we bought this little cabin on a nice chunk of land in the Ozarks, and started to get serious about following our life-long dream of living on a farm.

Why this particular place?

It has beautiful open pastures with enough room for cows, sheep, kids, grand kids, and whatever else we desire!

With beautiful scenic views of forests and mountain ridges.

And this beautiful rock bottomed, year-round stream crossing the property...

...a stream that comes fully stocked with kids! Two are ours, and the rest are cousins who live next door (yes, having family nearby was major bait on the hook). Standing on the little bridge looking down on this scene was the moment I decided to buy our piece of heaven on earth.
