New calf on the Wanch!

It has been so long that we were beginning to doubt if Heidi was really pregnant, but she surprised us with a little dun-colored beauty yesterday morning, 6 October.

The boys and I were picking up walnuts in the morning around the pond and front yard, and it wasn't until after lunch when we moved the cows from paddock #3 into #6 that we discovered a new member in the herd.

Don't know if its a male or female yet, but it certainly is well camouflaged in the grass.

The weather has been perfect the past week with day-time temps in the 70's and cooling down into the 50's at night.

Brand new tiny baby just licked clean by proud Momma, taking its first nap in a bed of soft grass in the warm sunshine. Now I just need to buy 3 or 4 more Momma cows and the herd will really grow.
