Happy B-Day K7

K7 did not get to sleep in on his birthday today. Had to get up early and spend 2 and 1/2  hours at the church with other Boy Scouts dividing and repacking $450 worth of trail food for their big 50 mile hike starting this Monday. He got home and had fun with K8 and some friends having a water balloon war which lasted about 1 and 1/2 hours.

None of them seemed to mind the 100 degree temps!

Because he had to be at the theater at 5:30 for two performances of "The Jungle Book" tonight, Mom and I took him out for his private birthday dinner at 4:00.

What's on the menu?

Salads for everybody and...

Fish and broccoli with jalapeno cheese sauce for Dad, and Steak with baked potato for Mom and K7.

I cleaned my plate, but unfortunately Mom and K7 had to wait some more because their steaks were both over-cooked! They were "Well Done" instead of the "Medium" Mom ordered and the "Medium Rare" K7 requested. Unbelievable! What were the odds of screwing up both steaks? Never had this problem before.

When their new steaks arrived, I asked our waitress if there was a new guy cooking tonight. She was polite about defending the new guy, but said the "head guy" cooked these replacements. I wonder what the penalty is for new guy ruining two big steaks? Back to washing dishes?

Aah, Anticipation...

The race is on!

"Okay, I'm full". They both took home leftovers, and K7 was also given a piece of cheesecake. His play Director is giving him a birthday party tonight at the theater as well. Lucky guy, but he deserves it.
