When we got our first sheep - 2 rams - the boys named them "Mutt" and "Jeff". Mutt is the dominate one, so we always knew that Jeff was destined for the freezer. The fateful day arrived on the Thursday after Christmas. Jeff is the ram on the left hand side, foreground of the first photo. A knowledgeable friend came over and supervised/taught us how to humanely and safely take an animal from pasture to freezer.
Jeff provided 32 lbs. of meat and 5 lbs. of scraps for cats & dogs.
I'm glad I didn't have to help...I probably would have cried my way through it.
